1. The insurance cover is underwritten by Royal Financial Services (RFS), an authorized financial services provider and registered insurer (Registration number 2017/445479/07, FSP Number is 51465) Royal Funeral Group is Juristic representative of Royal Financials Services (PTY) LTD. Hereinafter referred to as “Royal Funeral Group”
Definitions “Accident” means an external, violent, unexpected and visible; “Accidental death” means death directly caused or resulting from injuries sustained during an Accident; “Application form” means a form that has been completed by the Policyholder to apply for cover for the Assured Lives in terms of the Policy; “the assured lives” means the defendants in whose lives the Policyholder has an insurable interest, subject to the age limitations; “Dependents” means the Spouse, Child, Extended Family member or Parents of the Policyholder; “Extended Family” means mother, father, mother-in-law, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, cousin, niece, nephew, grandparent, grandchild or child.; “Immediate Family” means the spouse band children of the Policyholder; “Nominated Beneficiary” means the person nominated by the Policyholder to receive the benefits upon the death of the Policyholder; “Parent(s)” means the biological or legally adoptive parents of the Policyholder nominated for cover by the Policyholder, and “Parent-in-law” shall bear the same meaning with respect to the Spouse of the Policyholder; “Premium” means the monthly premium payable by the Policyholder to Royal Funeral Group in respect of the Assured Lives; “Spouse” means the spouse of the Policyholder, including a party to a customary marriage concluded in accordance with the applicable indigenous law as well as a union concluded between parties married in accordance with the doctrines of a recognized religion or tradition, as well as a partner to a civil partnership in terms of the Civil Union Act, 2006, a life partner, provided that the Policyholder provides, upon request, proof to the satisfaction of Royal Funeral Group of the permanency of his/her relationship with his/her life partner; “Stillborn” means the death of a foetus of a least 26 (twenty-six0 weeks or longer after conception or immediately prior or during delivery; “Waiting period” means the waiting period and exclusions applicable to Assured Lives and determined with reference to the inception Date of the applicable Benefits in relation to an Assured Life; “Lapsing” refers to a temporary suspension of coverage due to non-payment of premiums or failure to meet certain conditions within the policy. Implications: No Benefits: During the lapse period, no benefits can be claimed. The policy is essentially inactive until reinstated. “Reinstatement” process of restoring a lapsed insurance policy to active status after it has been temporarily inactive due to non-payment of premiums or other reasons. This process allows the policyholder to regain the benefits and coverage that were originally provided under the policy. “Expired” Expired refers to the end of the policy term without renewal. Once a policy expires, it is no longer in effect, and the coverage ceases entirely. Implications: No Benefits: Once expired, no benefits can be claimed because the coverage period has ended. Renewal Needed: To regain coverage, the policyholder must purchase a new policy or renew the existing one (if renewal options are available). This may involve new underwriting and premium adjustments based on current risk factors including applicable waiting periods.

2. Your spouse or your other nominated dependants can keep this cover after your death: If you were to pass away, your surviving spouse or your other nominated dependants can choose to carry on with the policy and become the main member. They must contact Royal Funeral Group, within 31 days of your passing if they want to make this change.
3. Nomination of beneficiary: The main member must nominate a beneficiary. This ensure Royal Funeral Group knows who to pay the benefit to in the event of the main member’s death.
4.1 Maximum entry ages: The maximum entry age for the prospective main member and dependents will depend on the plan you have chosen.
4.2 Number of dependent allowed on your plan: The number of dependents to be covered will depend on the plan you have chosen.
5.1 Waiting period: Your policy has to be in place for a fixed period waiting period before you or your dependents can claim from the policy. The waiting period for this cover is six months for new members, dependents and re-joiners. Calculated from the date the first premium is paid to the Royal Funeral Group.
5.2 Waiting periods will not apply if the main member or dependant were to pass away in an accident, provided the first premium has been paid. Existing members who were insured by the previous underwriter will have to complete the duration of the waiting period still outstanding.
6.1 Lapsing: Your policy will lapse if you fail to make two consecutive monthly premium payments. You can reinstate the policy by resuming premium payments within three months of the last premium payment date, as long as all arrear premium payments are settled. The waiting period will not apply for reinstatements.
6.2 Expiring: Your policy will expire if you fail to make three consecutive monthly premium payments i.e. 90 days since your last premium date. You will have to re -join your policy and the waiting period for your cover will begin anew before you can claim on your policy
7.1 How you’ll pay your premium to Royal Funeral Group: The method of payment will depend on the plan you have chosen.
7.2 Confirmation of receipts: confirmation of receipts premiums should be received via SMS within two days, it’s the responsibility of the prospective main member to contact Royal Funeral Group should they not received the SMS.
7.3 Refunds: refunds will be at the discretion of the insurer. No refunds will be applicable were premiums are in arears as per our policy schedule. Refunds will only be considered were over an over payment is in excess of two months in advance of your policy premiums
8.1 How to claim: You must submit your valid claims to Royal Funeral Group within six months from the date of the claim event. You must give the Royal Funeral Group all requisite documentations before Royal Funeral Group will process your claim.
8.2 Claims process: Please contact Royal Funeral Group for assistance in the event of a claim. Royal Funeral Group will provide you with all the necessary forms you need to complete. You must supply Royal Funeral Group with the following documentation in the event of a claim:
8.3 Claim pay-out period: Claim will be paid within 48 hours following submission of relevant documentation. The 48 hours for claim starts everyday 12:00 midday and all documentation submitted after the deadline will fall to the next day 12:00 midday deadline
9. You must provide Royal Funeral Group with accurate information: Royal Funeral Group reserves its right to repudiate or reject any policy claim which is found to be based on intentionally false or negligently inaccurate information. It is your responsibility to update your information with us when it changes.
10. Maximum cover amounts: The amount that can be paid out under this policy is limited to a maximum rand amount. This will depend on the plan you have chosen.
11. Grace premium period: Royal Funeral Group reserves its right to cancel the policy and its accompanying cover should payment of premiums not made for a period of two consecutive months.
12. Cancelling or replacing your policy: In the event of cancellation of a policy, you will forfeit any benefits that may be due to you of that same policy. You are required to give Royal Funeral Group one month’s notice before the effective date of the cancellation
13. General exclusions: Royal Funeral Group will exclude policy pay-outs to beneficiaries in the following scenarios:
14. How to make changes to your policy: Please contact Royal Funeral Group if you would like to make any changes to your contract or your contact information.
15. Premium guarantee period: Royal Funeral Group guarantees that your premiums and benefits will stay the same for the first 12 months. After that, Royal Funeral Group reserves its right to review and adjust premium payments and premium growth patterns at policy anniversary. Royal Funeral Group will send you written notice of any changes to your policy at least 31 days before any changes are applied.
16. When your cover will start: Your cover will only start on the first day of the current month if we receive premiums payment between the 1st and the 15th of that month. If we receive premiums payment after the 15th of that month, then the cover will start on the 1st of the following month. You won’t have cover if we don’t receive your first premium. Any waiting period that applies to your policy will start running from the day we actually receive the first premium. Royal Funerals reserves the right to decline your application within 31 days of you applying for cover.
17. Cooling off period: If we have accepted your application for the policy and you change your mind about this policy, you have 31 days from the inception of your policy to cancel it. If you cancel your policy within this period, Royal Funerals will refund your premium. 18. Replacement of lives assured: Replacement of lives assured will be allowed, replacement lives will be treated as new joiners and new joiners conditions will apply as item 5 of these terms and conditions.
19. Cover for new-born: The main member must apply for cover for new-born children. Failure to do so will render such children uncovered under the policy. Application to add the new-born child onto the Policy must be submitted to Royal Funeral Group in writing within ninety (90) days from the date of birth of the new-born child.

21. Policy owner declaration and signature
Royal Funeral Services Underwritten by Royal Financial Services (Proprietary) Limited. Your policy is administered by Royal Funeral Group. You declare that the information you have provided in this form is accurate and true and that Royal Financial Services (Proprietary) Limited has the right to cancel this policy with immediate effect should they find out any of the information you provided is untrue. You also understand that you will forfeit any premiums paid to Royal Funeral Group Underwritten by Royal Financial Services (Proprietary) Limited should you provide false information. You declare that your representative has explained the terms and conditions of your cover and you understand them. You confirm that Royal Financial Services (Proprietary) Limited may validate the information they request and that you’ve provided, where required. You’re satisfied that the plan you’ve chosen best suits your needs and you’re able to afford the monthly funeral insurance premium.
22. Protection of your personal information
We will keep any information – including personal information relating to you, your dependants, lives insured, and beneficiaries – supplied to us when applying for your policy, reinstatement or any amendment (“your personal information”), confidential. When providing us with your personal information, and information on your dependants, lives insured, and beneficiaries, you must make sure that they have provided you with the appropriate permission to disclose their personal information to us for the purposes set out above and any other related purposes. We may collect, collate, process, store, and disclose your personal information for the purpose of: Administering this policy and for the assessment of any claims; Providing relevant information, including your personal information, to contracted third parties who need the information to offer you a service in relation to this policy, provided that the contracted third party agrees to keep the information confidential; Please note we may change this notice from time to time.
